External HDD not being recognized after formatting from xbox one back to regular.

I have a brand new Seagate external HDD that will not show up in Windows 10 at all. Not in This PC, not in BIOS, not in disk management. it's like it doesn't even exist anymore. It started off as being for a PC, then i formatted it for Xbox, but moved to gaming on PC so decided to switch it back. So i followed this https://www.gottabemobile.com/how-to-fix-your-hard-drive-after-using-it-for-xbox-one/ tutorial. It ended up working fine, then i went to rename it, and it 100% just froze windows completely, and i had to restart my computer. Then i go look and it's no longer in This PC, but it did still show up in disk management, so i formatted it again (which usually doesn't do anything except wipe it) tried to open it and it said “The request failed due to a fatal device hardware error and it completely disappeared from everything. The light still turns on on the drive and still makes a sound, so it's clearly still okay. How can i fix this?

    :)

internal to external HDD not recognized

I threw away a old Toshiba satellite and want to convert the HDD to external (it has Linux mint on it) I want to format it as a win 10 storage drive but it doesn't recognize when I go to management all the menus are grey. I can't rename it either. I'm
currently on a Lenovo laptop g51.

External Hard Drive not being recognized by desktop

My Toshiba external HDD isn't being recognized by my desktop (windows seven) after I formatted it
I tried formatting it back to the way it was when it was recognized (the one with the 4gb file limit) but it still won't be recognized
Works without any problems on my laptop though (windows vista)
Some form of driver issue or something?
    Any thoughts?

are not successful. What is the correct procedure to properly format for the full capacity of the drive??
