Windows 10: External HDD not recognized-error code 43.... need to safely remove?!

    External HDD not recognized-error code 43.... need to safely remove?!


    Had to repost since my first question received only one reply and no followup, and now I have more details anyway. I have been searching this forum and found there's quite a bit of those with same or similar issues.My Windows 10 pc had went into partial sleep mode when my external HDD was plugged into a USB. When I woke it back up, and clicked icon to safely remove, got a message saying the device isn't recognized. The icon to safely eject isn't there now so how can I safely eject the HDD?? So I tried restarting my PC device still plugged into USB port but that didn't change anything. The H

    External HDD Error: "USB device not recognized"

    Hi!
    I have an issue with an LaCie Rikiki external drive. As the title says, I get "USB device not recognized" error in Device manager with "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" status. The drive does not show up in Disk Management either. I have tried different USB cables on different PCs but with the same result.
