External HDD shows in DIsk Management but not Explorer, option to assign drive not available

Hello,I have an issue where the Primary Partition of my G Drive brand, External Hard Drive shows up Disk Management but not in Explorer on my Windows 11 Lenovo computer. If I right click over the bar in Disk Management, all my options except "delete volume" are greyed out, so I do not have the ability to assign a drive letter or path. I am not having this issue with my Dell 1 - SSD, NTFS. On the Dell, the 5.6 TB partition shows up as D:, NTFS in both Explorer and Disk Management. I cannot access the 5.6 TB primary partition on my Lenovo, which has two internal SSD, NTFS. Both computer

    :)

  2. Windows 11 File Explorer not showing external drive

If Windows 11 File Explorer is not showing an external drive that is connected to your device, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check the connection: Make sure that the external drive is properly connected to your device. Try unplugging and replugging the drive, or connecting it to a different USB port.
    2. Check Disk Management: Open Disk Management by pressing Windows key + X, then selecting Disk Management. Look for the external drive in the list of drives. If it appears but has no drive letter assigned, right-click on it and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths". Assign a drive letter to the external drive, and then check if it appears in File Explorer.
    3. Update drivers: Make sure that your device's drivers are up to date, particularly the drivers for your USB ports. Use the Device Manager to check for any outdated or malfunctioning drivers, and update or reinstall them as needed.
    4. Check power supply: If the external drive requires a separate power supply, make sure it is properly connected and functioning.
    5. Test on another device: Try connecting the external drive to another device to see if it appears in File Explorer. This will help determine if the issue is with the drive itself or your device.
By following these steps, you may be able to resolve the issue of Windows 11 File Explorer not showing an external drive.

W10 external disk visible in disk management, but no drive letter assigned

My laptop runs W10 as OS. External HDD is a Verbatim 47527.

The external HDD appears in Disk management, without a drive letter. When my laptop runned W7 , all worked well.

At disk manager, the partition is shown as primary. To assign a drive letter is not possible.

The only possible option is to convert the drive to a dynamic disk.

Will I loose the data if I execute that?

    TIA, Ton.

External HDD shows in DIsk Management but not Explorer, option to assign drive not available

help. USB drive isn't assigned a drive letter.

Any usb flash drive I plug into my computer isn't assigned a drive letter. The physical drive shows in the "safely remove hardware" but it doesnt show up in disk management. I have tried to populate the volume thru the safely remove hardware properties window and it does pop up in the list but it doesn't stay there. This isn't a format or assign a letter problem. It's more complicated then that. Maybe one of the services needed for usb drive management was disabled? Suggestions needed. btw external usb harddrives work fine.
