Windows 10: External Keyboard not working when providing Bit locker pin

Hello, I have tried different USB wired and remote keyboards w/o any progress. The Function keys and numbers work but my letter keys are a no show. I also have had issues getting to the windows re screen, coming from the reboot bios set up. A couple of my USB ports have gone dead recently and I have tried going into the bios hardware section to see if I could revive them that way, unfortunately I dig myself into a deeper hole. I am currently on a wired keyboard now without any positive results. thank you
