Windows 10: external laptop sound cards 4 HP x360 win 10/64 20h2

Problem is that we have exhausted solutions to sound problems on this relatively new laptop.

By way of summary, no sound device works, be it internal speakers, external speakers or bluetooth speakers.
We have tried both Intel & Realtek drivers, we have also re-installed windows - nothing works. All HP troubleshooting suggestions have been tried without joy (latest BIOS too)

Conclusion either sound chip on mobo is faulty or drivers are just not compatible with the latest version of win 10.

Only option left is an external USB soundcard, but would need separate sound drivers (we thought that a bluetooth speaker would get round it, but no joy) suggestions for an economic card, quality is not as important but having some sound is!

We understand the concern as you are unable to find the Webcam and microphone driver in Device Manager. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

• What is the Version and Build of Windows 10 installed on the PC? (Type
  winver in Windows search/Run command)
  
• What happens when you open the Camera app?
  
• Are you not able to see the webcam driver under Imaging devices?
  
• Are you aware of any changes on the PC prior to this issue?

Regarding the Microphone issue, we would suggest you to run the
Audio Troubleshooter listed under Troubleshooting from the

HP website once your PC gets detected.

HP x360 Spectre Windows Hello No Longer Working

Thanks for the suggestion. For reference (for people coming after me trying to find a solution), the steps Lee is suggesting are as follows:

• Device Security > Security Processor Details > Security Processor Troubleshooting > Clear TPM

Appreciate the help, Lee, but resetting the TPM using the process above didn't work. All it did was make me reset my PIN and sign in again via my Microsoft account. As I mentioned in my initial post, I have an HP Spectre
x360 Convertible 13-ae0xx, so I've been using the drivers found here:

Also as I mentioned, the latest drivers are installed - that's always my first go-to solution (other than turning it off and on again! ).

Any other suggestions?

 

sound distorted after windows 10 anniversary upgrade

This is where I'm at on my HP laptop with Windows 10 and the Anniversary update.

I completed step #3 "hardware and sound" but that took me to an option for "sound, speakers." There was no "properties" as step #4 suggests. I selected "sound, speakers" and then found "properties." After selecting "properties" there was no "enhancements
tab" as step #5 suggests.

Regardless, I then uninstalled the realtek audio driver. I noticed that when I did this without restarting my laptop that the sound was now tinny, but not distorted as it was previously. After restarting, the sound was again full, yet distorted.

Realtek still shows in my programs list, though it shows no memory is used.
