  1. External Lighting affecting screen brightness

I was recently facing some flickering issues when on battery of my Asus Creator Q530 laptop and Asus support told me to update my drivers so I did that. I think this fixed my flickering issues, but now when I am sitting in different lighting settings ie sitting in sunlight next to a window, my laptop will automatically change brightness on battery and when charging. I have tried so many different solutions: my drivers are completely updated, my bios is completely updated, the "change brightness based on content" in the system settings is off, the adaptive color in system settings is off, in th

  2. screen brightness on windows 10

    Hi,

Some computers can let Windows automatically adjust screen brightness based on the current lighting conditions.

To manually adjust the screen brightness, we suggest following these troubleshooting steps:

    • Click Start, then select Settings.
    • Choose System, then select Display.
    • Under Brightness and color, move the Change brightness slider to adjust the brightness.

Feel free to post back if you have other concern.

  3. Deskop automatically dimming after turning on/off night light

    Summary of issue:
Someone tapped on a bunch of keys today on my keyboard, over on the right hand side (prt sc, pg up, ins, del, etc). They don't know which keys they hit, but it dimmed the screen of my desktop down to what seems like minimum brightness. It seems like Automatic Dimming was activated, except I am on a desktop with no sensors.

    Symptoms:

Both external monitors dimmed to minimum brightness.

Things I've looked for in Settings:

    • No physical monitor settings were changed, and the dimming is happening on both monitors.
    • Device Manager and Power settings no longer have the ability to turn off adaptive brightness.
    • "Change brightness automatically or use night light" under "Vision > Display > Make everything brighter" takes me to "System > Display", which has no brightness sliders
    • I checked NVIDIA Control Panel, no settings in there affect screen brightness independent of the windows system, in fact the brightness settings in there seem to be subset to the Windows OS settings, so they only affect the brightness at that current Windows OS brightness level.
    • I've looked through the list of Windows 10 Hotkeys and haven't been able to find any that affect screen brightness.
    Things that temporarily remedy symptoms:

    • Turning on Night Light in ANY capacity with ANY slider setting returns the brightness to normal, HOWEVER, clicking out of settings after doing this IMMEDIATELY turns the monitor brightness all the way back down, regardless of night light settings.
