  1. External monitor has darker colors/contrast after sleep or hibernate

Hi all, I am running into an issue with external monitor colors showing higher contrast darker when booting machine up from sleep or hibernate. Doesn't affect the integrated monitor though. The issue can be resolved by either rebooting or reseating the HDMI cable, which sets the color tone to how it normally is, but this can become tiresome. Issue doesn't occur on 2 other Windows 10 machines. The difference is subtle but noticeable when looking at it. Currently running Win 11 version 22h2. Issue has started since getting the machine and Windows updates have not fixed the issue. Also tried r

  2. Laptop computer (PC) and external monitor color?

How do I restore color to the factory settings on the Dell Pavilion laptop computer monitor and the external Dell monitor, using Windows 10? The contrast and color both went crazy after an update, enabling less color saturation in all gradients and less
contrast than before. I feel like I need to add the 'high contrast' accessibility value to improve the visibility of my laptop pc display.

    Thank you,

  3. Windows 8.1 Monitor resolution incorrect after disconnecting external displays/sleep/hibernate

Normally I run with 3 monitors: 1 built-in laptop display, 1 analog VGA connection and 1 DisplayPort. When I disconnect the external monitors (and maybe hibernate or sleep the system) reconnecting the external monitors results in all being detected as "generic" with a lower resolution, including the built-in display which now shows vertical black bars on either side since the new resolution is a different aspect ratio. The only solution I've found is rebooting.

I have an Asus G751JT laptop, with an nVidia graphics adapter. A few other interesting things I've noted:

    1. Windows detects the monitors as being arranged as 2-1-3, while the nvidia control panel shows the arrangement as 2-1-3. The mouse acts as 2-1-3.
    2. The color profile is frequently wrong. I had to add a scheduled task that triggers on unlock to restore the default profile. Several times a day I find it necessary to lock and unlock in order to get the display "calibrated" correctly. And by "calibrated" I simply mean providing the ability to display light gray (#e9e9e9) and white as 2 different colors. The nvidia control panel is set to other applications control color settings. I've tried it the other way, but the setting doesn't stick.

Any suggestions? Is Windows 8.1 just really, really bad at displays?

UPDATE: recently "upgraded" to Windows 10. The color profile problem is gone (or at least whatever it is doing by default is usable) but the display resolution issues when a monitor is disconnected persist.

  4. External monitor has darker colors/contrast after sleep or hibernate

    high contrast problem

What type of Monitor are you using ?

As we don`t know i can only offer some suggestions.

    • Make sure its set at True Color ( 32 Bit ) in the Control Panels Display settings.
    Go to Start Menu.

Type in Display and select it from the drop down.

In the right hand pane select Change Display Settings and open it.

Click the blue link called Advanced settings.

Click the Tab called Monitor to make sure its set to True Color 32 bit.

    • Try using the Monitors Function Buttons to change the Brightness and Contrast.
Try between the Natural / Warm @ Cool settings that most Monitors support within their function buttons.

    • If using a installed Graphics Card make sure you have the Drivers Installed.
Some Graphics Cards support changing Brightness and Contrast in their Control Panel.

Still, i suggest you do this with the Monitors Function Buttons first to see if this sorts out the issue.

    • You could also try the Windows 7 Calibrate Display Color.
    Go to Start Menu.

Type in Calibrate display color and open it .

Click the Next Button down in the bottom right hand.

Follow its Instructions through to the end.

    Hopefully this helps some what.
