Windows 10: External monitor randomly stopped working with my Laptop

Hi,I have a ViewSonic external monitor VA2407H that stopped working with my laptop. When I plug the HDMI cable to the laptop, the laptop screen starts blinking and readjusting forever. If I connect a different laptop to the monitor using the same HDMI cable, everything works fine. If I connect my laptop to a different monitor, it also works. Also, if I connect the HDMI cable to a USB-C adapter and then to my laptop via usb-C, it works. It just

External monitor randomly stopped working (again)

I have a Windows 10
Dell Inspiron 15-7559 laptop and an external monitor. The monitor was working perfectly for a few weeks, until one day I switched on the laptop
to find that the monitor was no longer working. Going to 'Display Settings' only showed one monitor, and pressing 'Detect' said 'Didn't detect another display'.After updating all drivers, then purchasing
new leads and adapters for the monitor, I still couldn't get it to work. Then I stumbled upon the 'Hardware and devices' troubleshooter which, after restarting my computer, made it work.

Less than a week later, I restarted my machine and the same problem occurred. This time, the troubleshooter didn't help, so I made the following thread: Redirecting.
I was told there to reinstall the Intel HD 530 driver which I did, which solved the problem (note: I didn't need compatibility mode, which wasn't working).

Today, I was prompted to update my Nvidia driver and as soon as it updated, the external monitor stopped working again. I've tried the following:

- hardware troubleshooter

- uninstalling the Nvidia graphics driver and reinstalling an earlier one

- uninstalling the Nvidia display adapter

- manually installing the Intel HD 530 graphics driver (I get an error saying it's not compatible with my PC, even though it is the correct one)

- manually installing the Intel HD 530 graphics driver after uninstalling the Intel HD 530 display adapter (I get an error saying my PC doesn't meet the minimum requirements)

- manually installing the Intel HD 530 graphics driver with compatability mode (makes no difference)

- lots of restarting the PC between steps

- changing cables etc

Any ideas?

 

Laptop suddenly stopped recognizing the external monitor

To assist you better, I would like to ask if the laptop is unable to recognize only the external monitor or other external devices also.

I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by following the steps below:

• Click on the Start button, and type “Troubleshooting” on the search bar.
• Click on “Hardware and Devices”.
• A pop-up will appear, click on the “Next” button and your hardware troubleshooting will start.

Laptop External Monitor Problem

Thank you once again, I will explain:

• Today 10th November 2016 - After monitor eventually successfully connects to my HP laptop, in my absence when the laptop/monitor powers off, I get NO re-connection problems during the day
• Tomorrow 11th November 2016 - After laptop and monitor has been restarted following, shut-down, power offs(laptop + monitor) I will be stuck once again with exactly the same problem

In my display settings each morning, my HP laptop shows it is connected to my external monitor, however there is no display on the external monitor for a vast amount of time, just randomly suddenly appears.?
