Windows 10: External Monitors Not Being Detected

I have a Surface Book and have always used an external monitor for extra display. I haven't used one in a few months while I was renovating. I recently tried to use my external monitor, but now my computer isn't recognizing it. The monitor works with other laptops and phones, but not mine. When I plug in the HDMI cord to my laptop, it says 'USB device not recognized'. So far, I have:-replaced the HDMI cord-done a hard reset-done a factory reset-updated my drivers-checked the computer with other monitors and had the same issue-windows+pI've done chats with support, but they've been zero help an

External Monitor not detected

I am running windows 10 on a MacBook Pro using bootcamp. I use a imac as an external monitor. Windows cannot "detect" the monitor. using a firewire connection, which works splendidly under OS. Any suggestions?

Please follow below steps to resolve the message by switching the input source to HDMI: 1. Press "Menu" hotkey on the monitor to enter OSD. 2. Switch the input source to HDMI on OSD in one of the following ways:

• Go to Display > Input > HDMI.
• Go to System > HDMI Auto Switch > On.

This issue might be happening because of the faulty drivers. That’s the reason you are getting intermittent connection on external monitor.

However, you may try the below suggested steps.

Step 1: Try connecting on a different monitor and check if the issue still persists.

Step 2: Try using a different VGA cable to connect with external monitor and check the status of the issue.

Step 3: Update display driver adapters

You may refer the article

Step 4: Check for an updated Video driver on the
