Windows 10: External NVMe MZ-VLB2560 "No Media"

Hello,

I have an "HP EliteBook 840 G5" that came with a NVMe "MZ-VLB2560", installed with Windows 10 and i encrypted it with bitlocker.

I replace it with a 1TB WDS100T3X0C...So far so good.


I bought a "Usb 3.0 NGFF M.2" enclosure to use the "MZ-VLB2560" as an external disc to connect it to VMworkstation and boot the Windows 10 that was already installed on that disk.



When I connect it to the laptop with the enclosure, windows recognizes it but it appears as "F: No media"

I tried to connect it to another laptop but i got the same error.


After several months, I inserted it back into the laptop's motherboard to see if it would start. I got "no media found", so this time it didn't even recognize the OS installed.


I boot with the windows installation media and in CMD with Diskpart it appeared but when I run "list part", no part or no media, something like that shows.


I proceeded to install windows on MZ-VLB2560 and the disk appeared there, So i selected "delete" and then "create new" and it manage to install the windows and could use it as windows in the laptop.


I extracted it again and tried it as an external disk and the same thing appears. F: No media found. I connected it to a Virtual "Kali Linux" and it didn't show me the windows partition either. What could be the problem?

Windows 10 Media Player will not save music data populated fron external hard drive???

To assist you further, let me ask you:

• Did you disconnects the external hard drive or is it connected all the time?
• What exactly do you mean by populated?
• Are you referring to media player library/playlist?

If it is about library and the external hard drive is connected all the time, I would suggest you to run Media player settings troubleshooter and media player library troubleshooter.

Follow these steps:

1. Press Windows key + X and select Control panel.

2. In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click troubleshooting.

3. Click View all, Click Windows Media player Settings and then media player library troubleshooter.

a media drive is an external hdd that has software on it enabling you to just plug it into your tv and watch videos/play music etc

i would suggest ebay for that sort of money tbh

 

Windows 10 installer don't detect NVMe drive

I have 2 drives:

• disk1 (SATA SSD, with Ubuntu 16.04)
  • partition1 (sda1: flag /boot)
  • partition2 (sda2: flag /home, encrypted by LUKS)
• disk2 (NVMe SSD)

So, the goal is to install Windows 10 on disk2 and boot it from GRUB (which is on sda1).

What is the problem ?

In disk-choose step, disk2 is missing. However Ubuntu 14.04 installer "see" this disk, so I assume that is software issue, rather than my hardware.

What I tried to solve this problem ?

• loaded Samsung NVMe drivers from this thread
• patched Windows image using DISM tool by adding 2 updates. I followed this guide
• tried to run Windows 10 installed on USB stick to install it

All of them failed.

Please help me to solve this issue.
