Windows 10: External ssd file recovery

Hi there, hoping you can help. I have a laptop with an M2 sata ssd. A recent windows update caused certain programs to cease working. I attempted to fix the issue, but somehow managed to lock my user account out of the drive. I bought a replacement ssd and installed windows to get the laptop up and running again, so far so good. I also bought a usb adaptor to plug the old m2 sata ssd into in order to recover files from the original drive. I plug this into the laptop, the device lights up and the connected drive gets warm which to me indicates it is correctly connected and operational, howeve

I have recently bought external SSD, I want to know what are the things i need to take care of before using my external SSD? Any tips and suggestions are welcome. Thank you for your support.

 

after save files on USB external SSD show folders but no files there

Please need help I save all my files from laptop on USB external SSD ( I format whole my laptop ) next day I look my USB external SSD and it show folders there but No files, any suggestion what I can try to see my files? thank you

 

[HELP]Image recovery issues

Guys i am trying to fix my cousins Asus Eee netbook. It has a backup image file that is partitioned on the hard drive but when I go to use it the app will run through a few steps and stop. It is running Vista . Any suggestions?
