External USB at full capacity after a reformat

As the title says, after reformatting my USB, it's at full capacity and I don't know what to do.

Right now, I'm running chkdsk to see if I can at least get the USB to a usable state as Windows doesn't even recognize the USB. Just calls it USB Drive.

    Anyways, suggestions?

    :)

  2. Recover or Reformat?

    The reformat won't budge?

I did what you said and then was told to remove the CD from the CD-Rom Drive, put in the recovery CD and then press the 'OK' button to continue

So I changed to the next disk but the OK doesn't appear to be being 'pressed'. Yes I have pushed enter on the keyboard which is what I have been using to get me through the other steps..

    Any suggestions?

Windows 10 installer lowered my USB capacity

    Hi

Yes those data sizes are consistent with IndexerVolumeGuid at 76kb and WPSettings.dat at 12kb basically the System Volume data as you mentioned.

IS your USB drive still stating in Computer that its only has 3.19GB free? if so then my best suggestion is to format it via Diskpart, if nothing else will format it.

Diskpart to reformat the USB drive (WARNING - get this wrong at it can format the wrong drive) so need to make sure you know what the disk number is of your USB pen is so at the List Disk stage plug the pen in and list disk then note the disk numbers listed,
unplug the pen and list disk again and note which one is missing, then plug the pen in again and list disk and you will likely have the correct number.

Very likely it will be the last one in the list, but double check size

Then follow the info here to reformat Create a Bootable USB Flash Drive

How to reformat USB Recovery Drive

Part of the commands and results were missing from the image.

Open adminstrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    diskpart
    list disk
    select disk #
(replace # with the disk number for the flash drive)
    attributes disk clear readonly
    exit

If the above steps work then you are set.
