  1. Extra Partitions after upgrading to Windows 11

After upgrading to Windows 11, on my C drive there are 2 new partitions. This is a 1Tb, M.2 drive. I have:1 System Reserve, 100MB, PriNTFS2 C Partition, PriNTFS, 930GB3 “None” PriNTFS, 713MB4 “NoName”, Pri FAT32, 100MB.It’s 3 & 4 that are new. Why? I don’t remember any activity that would create a Fat 32 partition on this drive, which was a new drive , that I had transferred my Win10 install to via cloning several months ago before upgrading to 11. And can I delete them? Thanks.

    :)

    W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

    - press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
    - diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
    - list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
    - select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
    - clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
    - create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
    - exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
    - click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that

  3. Windows 11 upgrade failed.

    Thanks.

The BCD or the EFI boot partition's file system is corrupt. Rebuilding the EFI boot partition fixes this issue.

Please go through these links for more information:

If you need step-by-step assistance in this regard, boot into WinRE Command Prompt.

    Then run:

    • mountvol y: /s
    • bcdedit
    • diskpart
    • list vol
For each command, photograph the screen and upload it to OneDrive.

Extra Partitions after upgrading to Windows 11

    Extra partitions

Hi Greg, thanks for your reply. The last two ones are the ones created by the Windows 10 installer during the upgrades. Although Computer Management shows that the 490 MB one is an OEM partition, actually it's not. When I first got my system, I clean
installed Windows 10 after removing all partitions and creating a new partition. If I clean install Windows 10 from a new partition, a recovery partition is created at the beginning. But, if I upgrade Windows 10, a new extra partition is appended after an
OS partition. That's what I noted.

Since I use a bootable media when a system has a problem, I guess I can remove any or all the 3 partitions except the second 100 MB EFI partition. Correct? Thanks again.
