  1. Extra "used space" after failing to create a system image

    Hi,

I was trying to create a system image on the same drive. So I created a separate partition and started creating the system image. I didn't allocate enough space so it failed to create the image, which is fine I re-did the process with more space on the partition.

However, I noticed my drive has more "used space" than before.

    Eg.

Before attempt#1 creating system image - Used space on drive 40gb

After failing to create system image - Used space on drive 60gb

Where is this data coming from? I tried looking for a folder called WindowsImageBackup but wasn't able to locate it. Is the failed system image taking up space on my drive somewhere?

    Thanks

    :)

system image backup fails with error "not enough shadow space "

When I try to create a system image backup it fails with a message telling me there is not enough shadow space and I should run VSSADMIN to increase it.

My C drive has 100G free space. The target drive, F, has over 600G free space. When I use the VSSADMIN command to list shadow storage it shows only the F drive, not the C drive.

Do I need to create shadow storage on the C drive using the resize shadow storage command? If so, how big should it be for a 256G drive?

Not able to Restore using System Image

    Hi,

Your concern about using a system image can be due to the configuration of your device. To better understand your concern, we'd like to know the following:

    • If the existing system image stored on your external hard drive was created when your device is already on Windows 10.
    • If you've tried using other USB ports on your device.
    • The version and build of Windows 10 that you're using on your computer. To check this, you can perform the steps posted on this

      link
      .

To isolate your concern, we'd recommend creating another system image. A different system image can be saved on your hard drive as long as there is enough storage space in it. In the event that there isn't enough space, we'd recommend moving the system image
file to another drive to free up the space.

We look forward to your response.

  4. Extra "used space" after failing to create a system image

Unable to use System restore from a windows 10 image on Windows 7 with error: "windows cannot find a system image-the usb drive is not visible"

    Hi Otley,

Thanks for replying to us with the status of your issue.

As you mentioned, when you connect the USB flash drive in to the system then the System image backup is not present. It might occur if the System image files is not created properly or may be it got corrupted.

As an initial steps I suggest you to check for the memory space in the USB flash driver.

If the Memory is occupied in the USB flash drive the I suggest you to try running check disk on USB flash drive and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps to perform Check Disk.

    • Press Windows + X on your keyboard.

    • Select Command Prompt (Admin).

    • Type the below commands.

      Chkdsk [drive letter]: /f /r

Reply to us with the status of your issue, we will be happy to assist you.
