  1. Extremely instable wifi only on Windows 10 laptop!

    Hello,

I was using a Windows 8 laptop for years just fine. A couple months ago I had to get a new laptop and it worked fine at first, but after a week or two the problems started. My wifi is extremely unstable. Websites will load and load and load and then suddenly it's all fast again for 10 seconds, and then it's just loading and loading again. This ONLY happens on this laptop. Any other devices in wifi are fine.

Speedtest (after loading for 3 minutes) says: ping 10ms, download 0.25mbps, upload 0.35mbps. On task manager, firefox uses only 0,0 to 0,1mbps.

I think I have fixed the problem last December, but suddenly in mid February it started again. I'm guessing from the update. I have no idea what I did in December, but I can tell you I did LOTS of research on this topic. I am actually going crazy, my laptop is unusable and I have absolutely zero money to replace it (old one got stolen). I need it for university.

PLEASE HELP ME. I hope I have now enough info so that this doesn't get deleted again. I will try every single solution no matter what, as long as it does not involve money (I will only be able to do that in the summer).

Solutions I have tried: EVERYTHING. P2P disabled, TC optimizer installed, updated drivers/reinstalled drivers, reset router... nothing works. Basically anything on google you can find, I have tried it. Yes I have read through this sub, too.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Wifi and browser problems with windows 10

I'll tell you how I fixed an identical problem on a ASUS laptop that had run perfectly on Windows 7 and ran well on W10 from January until the Anniversary update in early August. I tried everything I found on this forum and two others. Nothing worked. The last thing someone suggested was disabling the adapter and using a WiFi dongle. Problem continued. Nobody suggested changing the wireless network adapter. I bought and installed an Intel 7260 WiFi card and just used the driver which was downloaded on the reboot after the install. All problems solved!!

I must have wasted two months reading and trying everything. Even the manufacturer support inferred I needed a new machine though they sent me a Windows 8.1 driver to try, with the same result.

I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to determine if they white list any cards and see if they have suggestions for a compatible card. They may want you to buy another laptop but if the cards aren't white listed, a simple card swap to one compatible with Windows 10 seems to be the answer.

Extremely instable wifi only on Windows 10 laptop!

Laptops cannot access desktops via WIFI

I have 3 desktops (all on Windows 10 1803) connected on my LAN. After following this forum for some times and did all the steps as suggested by forum member, access denied, all my desktops are able to view and access one another. I have a printer connected to PC1, and managed to connect all the other 2 PCs to have the shared printer.

I also have 2 more laptops (both Asus with the same Windows 10 1803) connected via WIFI. Performed all the same steps as per the desktops, but I was not able to access PC1. I was able to view all the 3 desktops from the file explorer, but I just can't access all the desktops. However, I was able to access the Asus laptops from desktop PC1.

Anyone able to assist on this matter? Any assistance is highly appreciated.
