Windows 10: Extremely loud static noise playing through headphones

This problem JUST started happening to me. I've never had anything like it before. I was playing games on my computer when I suddenly heard a static noise so loud, I had to take off my headset. The static noise goes away the instant there's no audio playing, but starts up again EXACTLY 3 seconds after i play any type of audio through them. I've tested this dozens of times with no variation. The noise is always proportional to the audio, being 2-3x as loud. if i have my audio turned down so low that i almost cant hear it, i can hear the static sound clearly, and if i turn up my volume to a regu

So basically at random times my headphones started playing loud static noises over the current sounds such as music or any type of audio, if there's no audio there is no static sound. I don't know why it's happening.

 

Loud Static noise from headphone jack

Starting very suddenly, I have a weird issue with my laptop.

I was listening to audio on headphones plugged into the headphone jack when suddenly, very loud static noise started playing over the actual audio. After about 30 seconds of that Windows even crashed saying something about an 'apc index mismatch'

Ever since then, the very loud static noise plays on the headphones when they are plugged in. The built-in speakers work just fine. I have also tried with a different pair of headphones, with the same static noise.

Things I have tried:

Windows Update

Looking for driver updates in device manager

Windows Sound Problems Troubleshooter

If anyone has any idea how to solve this or what might be causing it, I would be very happy.

1) Try these fixes for headphone static in Windows 10:

2) Update the Sound controller drivers from the PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads webpage for your exact model. While there compare to make sure you also have the latest BIOS, Chipset, Display, Network and all other drivers.

If no newer then uninstall the Sound controller driver in Device Manager, restart PC to reinstall it.

Next go into Device Manager, right click Sound controller driver to Upgrade driver, then Automatically.

If nothing newer found in Windows Update then try again but this time choose Upgrade Driver > Browse > Let Me Pick to try all previous drivers queued there.

Then do the above steps for headphone device.
