Extremely random crashes on gaming laptop (Event ID 41 and 161)

Hi! I stumbled upon this website while trying to find solutions to these problems I've been having on my laptop for a really really long time now. It probably started like 6 months ago. My laptop would suddenly crash when playing very random games (Like ONLY in specific games, and they weren't even demanding games). I naturally just stopped playing those games for a while, until the same crashes started happening even when I'm not on a game. And then I realised that there was this very weird sequence that was going on. If let's say my laptop was shut down for a minute, it would crash seconds upon startup. If it was shutdown for hours, it would crash minutes upon startup. And if it was shutdown for 3 days or more.... It would PERFECTLY run. Until the next time I manually decide to shut it down of course. I even shut it down for 3 days, and it was working perfectly fine for WEEKS. But then I had to travel out of town for a month, and when I came back even though it had been shut down for the entire month, the problem seemed to be worse. It just instantly kept crashing no matter how long it was turned off for.

So finally I took it to a repair shop. The guy said it's a damaged GPU, which is the worse I could have asked for. He wanted A LOTTTT of money to fix it, but I decided to get a second opinion. I went to a guy who had a really good reputation, and said the error wasnt in the GPU, but in the motherboard. He fixed it for a fairly cheap price, and it actually worked. For 6 hours, Before crashing while in-game. It seems to be perfectly fine if I'm not running any game though. So I checked the event viewer, and of course there was the oh so popular Event ID 41, Kernel Power. But at the same time, there's an Error of Event ID 161, which says "Dump file creation failed due to error during dump creation." and that the EventData is \Device\HarddiskVolume3 (Though Idk which harddisk that is, I have a C Drive of 128 GB SSD and a D Drive of 1TB HDD. I'll put attatchments of those errors and the V2 Log Collector I found suggested on here. When running the V2 Log Collector thing by the way, there seemed to be a large block of text written in red, though I have no idea what any of it means. Will make sure to include that, too. And here are the things I already tried :

Turning off automatic restart at failure.
    Disabling quick startup.
using cmd prompt 'sfc /scannow' which said there were no errors found.
    Updating graphics card obviously.

I think that's all I did? I've been having this problem for WAAAY too long. I'm getting extremely desperate, especially since it's such a powerful laptop (at least to my standards) that was supposed to have a much longer lifespan than just 2 years... I would be forever grateful to ANY suggestions. Please, if there's any way I could give any more useful information that could help, do let me know. And sorry if I did any of the attachment things wrong, it's my first time seeking out help this way, since I really have no idea what's going on...

    Thank you all in advance.

    :)

  2. Kernal power 41 (61) id 161

    Hello

So lately I have have this issue where my computer would unexpectedly restart without any information. This never happens when a game is running like battlefield 4 only and it occurs more often when chrome is open. When I go to event viewer it says "event
critical kernel power 41 (63) id 161. When the computer restarts the mouse freezes and then the monitors turn off and the computer restarts. How could I fix this problem?

    So far I tried:

    • factory reset windows
    • check mnd dump

  3. Kernel-Power event id 41. BugcheckCode 0

    Hello,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

In-order to get more clarity on this issue and to assist you with appropriate troubleshooting steps, reply with answers to the below questions:

    1. Are you aware of any changes made on your PC, prior to this issue?
    2. Is this issue specific while playing a particular game?
    3. Which edition of Windows are you currently using?

A Kernel Power Event 41 can occur in the following scenarios.

Scenario 1: The computer restarts, and there is a Stop error BugcheckCode in the event data.

Scenario 2: The computer is shut down by pressing and holding the power button.

Scenario 3: The system randomly restarts and no Stop error BugcheckCode is listed, or the computer is completely unresponsive (hard hang).

I suggest you refer the article on Kernel
    Power Event ID 41
and follow the steps for the scenario that is causing this error on your PC.

Additionally, you can refer the article on Windows
Kernel event ID 41 error "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first" in Windows

    and check if that helps.

Windows Kernel event ID 41 error whilst gaming

    Hi,

I have been having this problem now for about 8 months and after trawling the internet for a solution I haven't found anything useful.

Often when I am playing a game, the computer will just immediately shutdown and restart as if I had held the power button down... It
only happens when I am playing a game. The crashes are completely random as to when they occur. Some days there will be no crashes, and others I will have many. Prior to 8 months ago, I never had any crashes. I could play games perfectly for
prolonged periods of time without a hiccup, however now, when I play the
    same
games I could happily play before for extended periods of time, I get a crash.

A lot of people have been suggesting it could be temperature. So I monitored my temperatures very closely and my PC never got too hot.

I have not changed any hardware components in my PC either and my power supply is 750 watt so I easily have enough power.

The only thing that I have found is in the event viewer.

Every time my computer crashes and a Kernel event ID 41 critical error shows up, there is always the same 6 events which occur.

    These
    are 6, 6, 6, 98, 6 and 6. Every time.

The final event just before the id 41 crash is to do with a driver: File System Filter 'npsvctrig' (10.0, ‎2016‎-‎07‎-‎16T03:28:33.000000000Z) has successfully loaded and registered with Filter Manager.

The second this driver is loaded, the PC crashes. I have looked to see if I can somehow remove this but with no avail.

Please if you have a suggestion as to what I can do, tell me.

    Thanks in advance

    Michael
