    Extremely slow scans and difficulty accessing drives


    I might have malware/other hdd issues that rendered multiple files corrupted. the problem is i cant scan the drives at all cause the scan is super slow. full scan/custom scan takes up to 12+ hours and trying to access these drives are incredibly taxing for my pc which shouldnt be the case at all. i ran chkdsk x: /f /r and sfc /scannow and defrag-ed the drives as well but to no avail. i dont need to recover most of the files but i cant even access the folders to manually delete them. also my hdd seems to be at 50%+ usage as soon as i scan it and my cpu seems to spike upwards of 90% everytime i

    Selecting a File History drive is too slow and/or broken

    The step that is too slow is listing the drives that are available for File History to use.

    Individual file access speed is not relevant. Indexing to improve file search times is completely irrelevant.

    Windows defender custom scan does not scan external drives

    I have Defender Windows 10. I tried using custom scan to select and scan external drives. The screen listing the drives comes up, but the "OK" button remains grayed out so unable to scan any of the drives listed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
