    F8 boot not working with legacy policy


    Hi there. So I wanted the advanced options screen to load so I set bootmenupolicy in bcdedit to legacy and set advanced options in {globalsettings} to true. Then I realized that the advanced options setting made it always boot to that screen. So then I set it to false, but then reaized that completely disable the f8 screen. How do I set the advanced options to only load when F8 is pressed right before windows starts to load?Thanks!

    Does F8 key still work to boot into Safe Mode?


    It was Option Two, step 4 (holding shift key while pressing restart) that worked.

    Hi Elda,

    If the boot sequence didn't work, then we suggest try running the laptop in safe mode. To do this, here's a few steps to follow:

    • Power down your laptop.
    • Turn it back on again.
    • When you turn it back on, press F8 repeatedly until the power on option appeared.
    • If you see the boot option "Safe Mode with Networking", choose that option.
    • See if you can boot up in Safe mode.
