  1. Facing Challenges to get WD passport detected with Windows 10 Pro packed Dell 5510 Workstation.

    Hi

    Greetings of the day

    (To whom it may concern)

I'm using WD Passport 2TB (WDBYFT0020BBK-0B) with Windows 7 OS in HP laptop (15N260TX), similarly tried to access the same (WD Passport) with some other laptops which packed with Win 10 or Win 7 in result got success, but couldn't able to detect in Dell Precision 5510 I've pushed all necessary recommended windows updates to my 5510 and tried various methods recommended in web but still facing the same challenge.

Wish to make a point noticed, which may help to solve this challenge.

When WD Passport plugged into the USB port of 5510 machine for the very first time I got no notification sound of device plugged/unplugged, usually when we introduce a new device to a machine it'll install it's required driver software which makes the device accessible by computer, but in our case it not happened, so i believed it may be the origin of the challenge (but when I plug a pen drive it's working fine after the completion of usual proceedings) Now trying to find a driver for the HDD but received none.

Then i've checked the device manager USB ports when I plugged the HDD but no traces found similarly checked below the disk drives section the same result (no traces) so I've gone for the diskpart to list the volumes mounted in computer surprisingly even there not found HDD so similarly tried third party tools (Mini Partition, Aomei, Paragon) but same result no traces found.

Kindly help me at your earliest possible to find the relevant answers and all suggestions are most welcome.

    Thanks & Regards

  2. WD My Passport 0740 not showing under Send to or Save as option

    Hello,

I've completed all of the same steps you provided to Crabs. Same WD Passport model 0740. My new computer is an XPS 8900 with Windows 10 home. The drive has all the latest drivers as well. I can plug into an older DELL running Windows 7 Pro and it works.

Well, it was working until I updated to Windows 10 Pro and is doing the same thing as the new computer....

    Suggestions???

  3. WD passport external HD not recognized on windows 10

I got Windows 10 to recognize my WD My Passport Ultra 2tb. Steps: 1. download the WD SES Driver (WD SES Driver Download)
and WD Firmware Updater (WD Product Update). 2. Reset the computer. 3. Press the Windows Key and look for Administrative Tools option and select the Disk Administrator. 4. The application will display
the disk and most likely the settings will be disabled (right click), you must remove that unit from this same box of options. 5. Then right click again will enable the options to assign a letter to name the detected disk, assign for example Z. 6. Finally
you will see that your computer recognize your WD Passport Ultra. I hope this is useful, it worked for me.

A driver for WD passport compatible with windows 10

    Hi Donna,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for posting your query.

Let’s try installing the WD passport driver in compatibility mode and check if this helps. I suggest you to install the drivers supplied by the manufacturer any disc or USB which came along with the WD passport drive.

    • Right-click on the setup file of the driver and select Properties.

    • Select Compatibility tab.

    • Check Run this program in Compatibility mode.

    • Let the driver install and then check the functionality.
You can also visit the below link and try updating the driver and check.

If the issue still persist, I recommend you to contact WD passport team for further assistance.

Hope this helps. Keep posting us with the status we will be glad to help you.
