    We are using Teamcity Build Tool where we have a job Automation to do Custom virus scan on some files in the network path running from the command line using the command - MpCmdRun.exe -Scan -ScanType 3 -File "\\abc\123\v\master.129-V" -DisableRemediation running the Mpcmdrun.exe from C:\Program Files\Windows Defender and the automation running on windows server 2019 standard OS with version 1809 OS build 17763.5329.when we did the POC of this automation, we did not saw any issues or errors but when we enabled the same in production we are seeing that the virus scan automation is failing w

    Windows defender custom scan does not scan external drives

    I have Defender Windows 10. I tried using custom scan to select and scan external drives. The screen listing the drives comes up, but the "OK" button remains grayed out so unable to scan any of the drives listed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Windows defender custom scan does not scan external drives

    I tried the custom scan in Defender Windows 10. It brings up the list of drives but the "OK" button remains grayed out when I select any drive in the list, so still unable to scan external drives... Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Windows defender custom scan does not scan external drives

    Hi Joe,

    to scan external drives using Windows Defender, follow the steps provided below.

    • Open Windows Defender.
    • Go to Settings tab.
    • Select the Advanced option.
    • tick the checkbox for Scan removable drives.
