Windows 10: Factory Reset doesn’t complete and loops back to recovery environment

Hello and thanks for taking the time to read. My computer gave me a CRITICAL_ Process_ died error so I was trying to factory reset it due to the fact that I set this computer up years ago and couldn’t remember the password. When I go into the windows recovery environment and try to remove all the files and factory reset the computer, it starts to reset and gets to about 3% then dumps me back into the windows recovery environment. I’ve tried getting into safe mode with no luck, and I’ve tried all the passwords I can think of and no luck there either. I’m not sure what to do from here honestly

Looping after factory reset

There is not much to do than again factory reset your computer.

Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery starts automatically if Windows will not startup. The recovery environment allows you to diagnose hardware issues, repair issues, back up files, and restore factory settings. You can start the recovery environment at any time.
Verify the list of systems on which Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery is supported.

You should able to factory reset with Windows 10 Installation DVD. You can create Windows 10 installation DVD/USB with Windows 10 Media Creation Tool.

 

Factory Reset 64% Loop

Hi,

Since you can't get past the boot loop, try to access Windows Recovery Environment and do a Startup repair by following the steps below:

• Press and hold the power button to turn off the device (If PC still stuck in the loop).
  
• Once turned off, power on the device. Once you see the manufacturer logo, press and hold the power button to turn it off again.
• Do this process three times then power on the device again to boot to
  Windows Recovery Environment.

In Windows Recovery Environment, usually you will see options like Continue, Troubleshoot, Use a Device.


In this case, please choose Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Repair.
This will allow you to fix certain system problems that might prevent Windows from booting successfully.
