Windows 10: Factory Reset Gets Stuck On “Getting Things Ready”

So I’m trying to factory reset my Windows 10 PC and when I select “install windows locally” it gets stuck on the second “getting things ready” screen. When I select “install windows through the cloud” it gets stuck at 1% completion on “resetting your pc”.

I've started a factory reset on my laptop. It's been like an hour and it's still stuck on the Getting things ready screen. How do I fix this?

Ummm note that the process of resetting have not even begun yet its just stuck on the Getting ready screen.

Ah, okay, so it is not stuck at the end of the process, that is normally where it gets stuck

Okay, perform a hard shut down if that process has not even started and there is no hard drive activity

Then try performing a reset as follows:

Click the Power Button on your Start Menu

Press the Shift Key and click Restart

Your PC will boot into the Windows Recovery Environment

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Options - Reset this PC

Choose to keep your files and apps, just your files or to keep nothing

Then start the Reset
