Windows 10: Factory reset has gone wrong - my fault?

I must admit that I really don't know what I am doing with Windows as I use another o/s.


But I bought a new Laptop and thought I would give the old one away, with the installed Windows 10 Home.

It would not allow me to reset to original settings because some files were missing onboard so

I downloaded two Reset files from Microsoft and then messed up.


After opening one, the laptop appeared to be installing well and I felt quite pleased.

It went through the motions as I thought it should and finally informed me that it was now going to restart.

It did, I saw the windows logo, the busy sign and then that was all.

After many repeats I now have a small window telling me there was an “unexpected error, Windows cannot proceed. To install windows click OK to restart the installation”

I did, then there were six options "Windows Rollback", the remaining five "Windows 10 volume 2", I clicked one of those, I eventually got “Restarting” but it is just repeating itself.

Then this appeared:-

Recovery

Your PC needs to be repaired

Press Esc for recovery

Press Enter to try again

Press F8 for startup settings

Press F9 to use a different operating system

I pressed Esc. But it is just repeating the original start up

My new Laptop has Windows 10 Home, is there anything that I can do please, my old machine is in too good a condition to just dump in the skip, and I would like to solve this problem.
