Windows 10: Factory reset stuck and can't boot from usb

Hi!


I'm trying to factory reset a laptop that I've had for a few years. It was running windows 7, but when I factory reset it gave an option to change to windows 10 I think windows 10 was included when I bought it. After doing most of the steps it is stuck on the software installation and won't get past 68/72 Installing DPOP winRE Customize. I left it for 24 hours on this step, but still no progress. I then tried rebooting it and booting with a usb, but I get an error saying 'system doesn't have any USB boot option'. If I restart it allows me to log in to administrator and looks like it will work, but then goes back to the software installation step it has been stuck on before. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can fix this?


Further details:

It is an acer laptop.

If I try to launch in safe mode I get an error saying that it can't complete the installation in safe mode

How to factory reset Cisco 1700 Router

Hopefully I can help you here....its a very common thing to happen.


First, I take it you dont know the passwords for console access or telnet/ssh?

I will assume that these devices belong to you.

step 1. Plug a cisco console cable into a serial port on your pc
step 2. Plug other end into Cisco console port
step 3. Using hyperterm or putty or similar connect to the serial port
step 4. boot router, and make sure you clearly can see the output (this confirms you have good serial comms)
step 5. if this fails, adjust the comm port settings (9600, 8,1,n are the default)
step 6. now you have to do the only hard part...send the break command:

Break command list: Break Commands

Go down the list and match your OS and SW and try the sequence suggested.

If this fails several times do what I do: Install putty (free) and then to send a break so you can get into rommom just hit "ctrl-a b".

 

Stuck during factory reset.


So the Factory reset has been stuck at 2% for the last 8 hours.

Could you describe how you tried to 'reset' it? Was there a restore point in use?

Being stuck in the Bios is never a good thing. Make sure your hard drive is working properly and your HD is set to 1st in the boot list.
