Windows 10: Factory Reset - Windows 10 still not installed properly

Hi, I had reset (keeping my data intact) on my Surface Pro and it went through reset and installed windows, it remember my windows hello login and the pin, however, when it got to my desktop, the start menu doesnt work and neither does the search bar. There are no apps in the system tray and task manager shows no applications running. Its like its not installed windows 10 properly.


I did a reset 3 times and got to the same result.


As i did a backup of my data previously, i then did a factory reset wiping all data and still did the same thing. this time i had to setup the laptop like first time use, but at the desktop, the start menu doesnt work and the search bar doesnt work.


I had taken my laptop back to John Lewis as its still within warranty, however they have outright refused to fix it. They initial engineer, said that as I had 1703 and not 18xx via the update, its a known bug.


I havent done software repairs in a long time and understand things have moved on.


What can i do to fix this? is it a bootable USB to reinstall windows? can i still use my license that came with the laptop. If anyone could provide me step by step with links, i would be most appreciative.

How to factory reset Cisco 1700 Router

Hopefully I can help you here....its a very common thing to happen.


First, I take it you dont know the passwords for console access or telnet/ssh?

I will assume that these devices belong to you.

step 1. Plug a cisco console cable into a serial port on your pc
step 2. Plug other end into Cisco console port
step 3. Using hyperterm or putty or similar connect to the serial port
step 4. boot router, and make sure you clearly can see the output (this confirms you have good serial comms)
step 5. if this fails, adjust the comm port settings (9600, 8,1,n are the default)
step 6. now you have to do the only hard part...send the break command:

Break command list: Break Commands

Go down the list and match your OS and SW and try the sequence suggested.

If this fails several times do what I do: Install putty (free) and then to send a break so you can get into rommom just hit "ctrl-a b".

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
