Windows 10: Faded desktop background after latest Windows 10 feature update

I just installed the latest Windows 10 feature update edition: Windows 10 Home, Version: 2004, OS build: 19041.450, experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.31.0. Now the desktop background is faded and grey. I don't like this, how do I make it as full colour and vibrant as is was before?

Faded background

Updates on Windows 10 have made my desktop background faded and dark. The three menu lines at the top left appear and the image appears behind the apps on the Start menu. I've deleted all of those app shortcuts but the background still won't come to the
fore. I'd prefer to see my background as brightly as I used to. How do I achieve this?

I suggest you to try the steps below and check if it helps.

• Press Windows Logo Key + I. Then click on Personalization.
• Click on Background to change it.

Lost desktop background

I did a Search & Distroy spyware scan the other day, and one of the suggested "fixes" said something about removing Active Desktop. Like the muppet I am I clicked yes and am now without a desktop background picture.

Does anyone have an idea how to reverse this? If I try to select a picture it's simply not added as a background.
