  1. Failed booting after latest update.

I'm stuck, I downloaded a windows 10 ISO file and placed on a USB drive, I can access the option page but none of the trouble shooting solutions work. I would like to avoid reinstalling, wondering if someone with experience could walk me through some options. Thanks for your time and the services you provide on this forum.

    :)

  2. Dual booting after latest updates...

By "pair of drives" do you mean in a RAID configuration? I have spent hours trying convert a live system from SATA to RAID mode (or vice versa) with no luck. If you do have a RAID
and it is level 0 or if it is just two disks, try putting your storage controller in IDE mode.

    Dual booting after latest updates...

I have a Dell Optiplex 755 with a couple of matching pair of Seagate 750Gb drives in it. I went to do this weeks updates and did Windows 10 (Pro x64) first, and a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate (x64).

    Here's the problem:

The screen to choose an OS loads as normal. When I go to select Windows 10 (Pro) it starts and then throws up the QR code screen with"inaccessible boot drive". I have let the computer do it's usual self repair and it still won't boot. It also won't accept my
original system backup disk, or even boot to it. Everything works just fine with Windows 7, and it can even read the disk within the booted up OS. I believe this may be an administration level issue with the updates. I believe I should have done Win 7 first
    and then Win 10 ...

I have seen a couple of Windows boot repair programs, but I can't seem to find one for this latest version of the OS on the TechNet or MSDN, and I figured before going into BCD Edit (and messing things up even further) I might ask if anybody else has had this
issue? Is there a method of unlocking this boot issue without using a third party program. Is there an image of the new boot disk available, and if so, where?

I thank you all in advance for any help or assistance.

    Failed booting after latest update.

I think you need to explain your problem more clearly.

To elaborate on Steve C's suggestion, why not tell us what problems your PC is having that makes you want to run the boot-level tools for troubleshooting and repair. If you have any error messages or event log entries to share that shed light on your situation, so much the better. Tell us more, please, and we'll do the same for you!

  6. Sorry, I'll give you as much information as I can, thanks again for taking the time to help. "Startup Repair couldn't repair your PC" Log file C:\WINDOWS\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt is the message I received.

You might want to try another form of startup repair next. Do you have access to another computer? Is your current computer working well enough to build a recovery disk? Either way, you can use Macrium Reflect to build a rescue disk. I've found its startup repair facility to be better than the one in Windows Recovery (WinRE). If you can install and run the program, it will build you a bootable rescue disk that you can then use to attempt further repairs. Here's a download link for Macrium Reflect Free.

OTOH, if that doesn't work you can try Kyhi's Rescue Disk (covered and at home at TenForums here). As long as you have access to another PC, and can use it to build a bootable USB flash drive or DVD, it will let you run Macrium from that runtime environment, and it has other boot repair tools as well.

    Failed booting after latest update.

This begs a host of questions.

    1. Did your PC boot from the USB disk, and did the Windows 10 installation process complete?
    2. Did you do an upgrade installation, or a clean install?
(The first is started with Windows 10 running, in the second, you boot your PC from the USB drive).
    3. What is your PC? Laptop? Tablet? Desktop? What disks do you have in it?

Please post a screenshot of Disk Management - if you can't boot your PC, please boot it from Kyhi's boot disk available from the top of the Software and Apps section here.

    4. Your specs show build 14393- the Anniversary Edition.
If you download an ISO now, I would expect it to normally be the Creator's build.
So did you want to upgrade to the Creator's build, or clean install it?

To post a screenshot please use the Insert Image icon above your post to the left of the video icon.
