    Not able to connect to Ubuntu VM instance running in Hyper-V on Windows 11

    Hello, I'm Felipe and I'm an independent Community Advisor, and I'll do my best to help you.

    It sounds like there may be an issue with the Hyper-V authorization policies on your computer. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    Check your Hyper-V authorization policies: Open the Local Group Policy Editor by pressing Win+R on your keyboard, typing "gpedit.msc", and pressing Enter. Navigate to "Computer Configuration" -> "Windows Components" -> "Hyper-V". Check if the policies "Hyper-V Administrators" and "Hyper-V Service" are configured correctly.

    Make sure you have the necessary permissions: Ensure that you are logged in as an administrator account or a user with Hyper-V administrator privileges.

    Restart the Hyper-V service: Open the Services window by pressing Win+R on your keyboard, typing "services.msc", and pressing Enter. Find the Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management service, right-click it, and select "Restart".

    Check the VM's configuration: Make sure that the VM is still properly configured in Hyper-V Manager, and that it hasn't been accidentally deleted or removed from the list of VMs.

    Reinstall Hyper-V: If none of the above steps work, you may need to reinstall Hyper-V. You can do this by going to "Turn Windows features on or off" in the Control Panel, unchecking the box next to Hyper-V, restarting your computer, and then checking the box again and restarting again.

    If none of these steps work, you may need to contact your IT administrator or seek further assistance from Microsoft support.

  3. Windows 10 Hyper-V: VM start fails - "Assertion failure"

    Using Hyper-V, I created a Windows-XP VM machine which I have used regularily without problem until earlier this year.

    Now, when I try to start my VM, I get:

    [Window Title]

    Hyper-V Manager

    [Main Instruction]

    An error occurred while attempting to start the selected virtual machine(s).

    [Content]

    'NeilsXP VM' failed to start.

    Synthetic Ethernet Port (Instance ID F0CADBEB-F85D-420F-8A02-91CF5563C25B): Failed to Power on with Error 'An assertion failure has occurred.'.

    [Expanded Information]

    'NeilsXP VM' failed to start. (Virtual machine ID 2C05B581-D924-4241-B58B-A853F9072076)

    'NeilsXP VM' Synthetic Ethernet Port (Instance ID F0CADBEB-F85D-420F-8A02-91CF5563C25B): Failed to Power on with Error 'An assertion failure has occurred.' (0x8007029C). (Virtual machine ID 2C05B581-D924-4241-B58B-A853F9072076)

    I have no idea what an "Assertion Error" might be and have tried restoring Windows to an early April version without improvement.

    The event log shows a "System" error that may (only may) be related:

    The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

    {6B3B8D23-FA8D-40B9-8DBD-B950333E2C52}

    and APPID {4839DDB7-58C2-48F5-8283-E1D1807D0D7D}

    but like most MS events does not volunteer any solution.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

    I find it annoying that an environment that works well can suddenly fail for no apparent reason. As such, I am blaming a windows upgrade, but without any specific evidence.

    Failed to start Hyper-V VM on windows 11

    how to backup an Hyper-v VM with Win 11?

    I have Hyper-V installed on Win 11 and I'd like to schedule a full backup (that could be restored!).

    I could export VM, but it's manual, not automatic!

    I'd read about Windows Server Backup, but I'm not sure I could get it on Win 11 ; I didn't succeeded to install it :-(

    As my VM is Linux, I could make a system backup, that gives a .img, but after, I don' know what to do with it in Hyper-V
