Windows 10: Failed updates, failed attempts at manual update

I've been unable to download some updates. Manual updates have also not worked.



BACKGROUND

System - Windows 10 Pro 1909 - 64 bit

Additional security program - Malwarebytes




FAILED UPDATES

03/01/2020 – KB2267602 version 1.311.368.0 - error 0x8024000b

03/14/2020 – KB4052623 version 4.18.2001.10 – error 0x80070643



MANUAL DOWNLOAD

Mpam-fe.exe

When I click on this, nothing appears to happen on my computer.

I have right-clicked on this to run as administrator.

download has been attempted on several different days just in case the file had been updated



SYMPTOMS

At times, there is a hazard exclamation point on the Windows security icon. When this happens, I am unable to open Windows Security. I attempt to access Windows Security via the icon and via Settings.

Currently, even though my Windows security icon has a nice green checkmark, when I go into Window Security to check status, under Security providers it is showing that there are NO PROVIDERS for Firewall or Web protection. I click to Expand, and have this green bar running across the Expand window, and it’s been doing that for several minutes with no result now I’ve gotten the mail, I’ve gotten coffee, it’s still running. I click the Cancel button and get an End Snap-in window.

Currently, when I click on the Windows Security icon, it is taking several minutes to load the window. Right now the Windows Security window is showing the menu icons on the left, with the blue bar to the left of the Home menu, and absolutely no text or images in the main part of the window. 3 minutes have elapsed so far and counting. Update – clicking on Notifications brought up the full window.



Any help / guidance appreciated. I’m going to go into Services now and see if I can start and stop and then reboot.

Windows update failing

Thanks for the help everyone. It worked to manually download and install the updates that were failing.

 

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time

Windows 10 fails to update


When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.
