Windows 10: Failing to update to 2004

Hi.


I'm having problems updating to 2004.


I'm getting the error 0xx1900101.


After installation, the system reboots, then fails to finish loading on the Windows loading screen, reboots and resets to 1909.


I've tried installing with an ISO boot drive, and here I'm getting the following image on screen:

When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

 

2004 update fails

Hello Bianca.

I have done all those steps in the linked troubleshooting guide.

This is what I have done so far:

Run SFC, which reports no errors.

Run DISM with no errors.

Did a clean install, keeping files and apps, the install fails.

Regular windows update works fine, only the update to 2004 fails.

check on installed updates in your computer that you have the latest servicing stack for - presumably 1909

If not download and install from the catalogue link - 64based update - second on list.

2. Then try update to 2004 after complete shutdown
Step 1: Open Start menu, select Power button.

Step 2: Press and hold the Shift key on keyboard, while clicking on Shut down, and then release the Shift key to perform a full shutdown.

OR as you may know a restart is a complete shutdown.

IF the 2004 update is offered on updates as the item - feature update to 2004 when you are ready etc.
The make sure beforte you click that - that you have clicked search for updates and install all - before trying 2004.

If that does not work clean boot it and then try the update
