Windows 10: Failure opening Nikon Z6 NEF photos

I installed the latest Windows 10 update, version 1903. I installed the RAW Windows extension. I use Windows Photos App. NEF files from my Z6 on an XQD card will open and look fine, but will collapse into random horizontal streaks in 3-4 seconds. What gives? NEF (RAW) files from a Df and JPGs open normally.

Nikon D5600 NEF format impossible to edit under Photo Editor

Maybe I didn't make myself sufficiently clear: of course I do not intend to edit a NEF file while preserving the original format. I normally use to convert the processed file into a JPEG format. The problem was that photo editor cannot open D5600 generated
NEF files for editing while it has no issues in doing the same on NEFs generated by other cameras (like D3300 in my case) types

Actually I did receive an email from Nikon Support suggesting me to use their own free editing legacy software

Allocation size issue - windows 10 - nef photos


Its a camera format, you just need a nikon codec and oyuy can open it, i can open them normally, older nef photos are ok. The problem comes witht he files, which were automaticaly compressed by windows, two arrows.
