Windows 10: Failure to install in SAFE_OS phase???

With an error during the APPLY_IMAGE operation???

Trying to install Windows 10 from Windows 7 (64 Bit) on a spare Acer Aspire 5738. Have tried a couple of times but it always comes up with this error message and reverts back to Windows 7. Any ideas???

Windows 10 Anniversary update error- code 0xc1900101-0X20017.

Original Title : Anniversary update failed in the Safe_OS

Six attempts, six failures. I'm trying to install the Anniversary Update on my computer, after trying the upgrade assistant, followed by media creation tool, and a USB install created with the media creation tool. My PC is an I7-4790 3.6ghz on a Gigabyte
GA-Z97X Gaming7 motherboard. I'm currently running Win 10 ver 1511, build 10586.494 my C: drive is a Samsung 950 M.2 500GB SSD.

Each failure results in the same error message:"0xc1900101-0X20017 The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation"
