Windows 10: Failure Update

I am stuck on Windows update version 15xx. When I start the computer I reieve a message not to unplug my USB drive or I will lose data on my Windows to Go. I am not using Windows to Go nor am I booting from a USB drive. When I attempt to update - Windows checks if my computer is able to update (It is) then downloads the update but fails to install at which point I receive error 0xc1900201.

I have run Troubleshooting. I have run Windows Update Assitant. I have purchased Windows 10 again and registered new license. I created a new bootable usb stick and tried that. I have read that this common problem may be solved by going into regedit - going to the Current HKey config and deleting the Portable 'key' (But I do not have a portable 'key' I am not using Windows to Go. I am not booting from a USB. My computer checks out that will work with Windows 10 updates. (I am running a Dell E7520 i7 16gb)


Solutions? Anything I haven't tried yet?

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Windows Update failure with error 0x80070002

I have tried all the steps suggested to no avail as I have been browsing all similar failures and tried the suggested solutions. The Windows Update service appears to work ok as all other updates are ok.

It may help if I someone could explain the meaning of the failure message.

When I tried the USB method it failed in a similar way suggesting that there was something wrong with the Windows Product Key. It may help that at sometime in the past the system was restored after a failure. On some forums I have seen comments that if the
key is not perfect then the upgrade will not work.

Intel E5200 Gets Updated, R0 Stepping Coming Up

Intel's Pentium Dual-Core E5200 processor is getting on course for a specifications update. The chip will feature in a new, improved Wolfdale-2M core, spec'd out as the R0 stepping, from its current M0 stepping. The new stepping is intended to add new instructions, power-management features, and bring about changes in the chip-package. A short list of known changes is as follows:

• CPUID changed from 10677 to 1067A
• Power State Indicator (PSI) support with Intel 4 series chipsets
• New instructions - XSAVE and XRSTOR
• New S-spec and MM numbers
• New halide-free chip package

Due to the changed CPUID, users may require BIOS updates to detect the CPU. According to the company, E5200 R0 should be out by April 13.
