    Fall Creators Update poor Windows animation performance regression


    Hi,

    another Windows update and yet another performance regression. With first Creators update, folders with large amount of pictures took very long to open and scrolling performance was terrible, and now with Fall Creators update, I am experiencing very laggy and stuttery Window animations. Especially animations of Maximizing/Minimizing windows, such as Explorer windows, and it's most noticeable on animation that happens when you double click window header to toggle maximized/floating mode.

    Before Fall Creators update, all these animations feel like buttery smooth 60FPS. Is anyone else experiencing this?

    I have GTX970 with the very latest nVidia driver and Core i7 5930k with 48GB DDR4 memory, so hardware performance issue is out of question.

    Directories with HEVC/x265 or Hi10p/10bit video sluggish

    I was using the (spring) Creators Update. Explorer WAS WORKING generating thumbnails of HEVC (x265) inside both MP4 and MKV. Just upgraded to Fall Creators Update and this problem popped up.

    Same symptoms as others. Folder refresh is very sluggish. Move is very sluggish. And thumbnails don't show for any HEVC.

    To me, it's a regression in Fall Creators Update, since it was working before, but not after.

    this is a windows(or possibly nvidia) problem with the fall creators update ,it needs to be filed in the bug tracker it was a problem with both the anniversary update and the original creators update it seems to be a commonly regressing issue

    I don't need support I need escalation
