  1. Fall Update - Restore Points Turned Off

The fall update removes all restore points - cannot restore to prior to update.

Also, it turns off protection settings in CP/System Protection/Configure. You will have to press button to turn on system protection and assign disk space for restore points. Would probably be a good idea to do this first thing after Fall Update completes and create an initial restore point.

    :)

    windows 10 update

After the new windows 10 update, fall creators update, I had no system restore points and all the protections on my hard drives were switched to off. I thought all updates were preceeded with installing a new restore point should anything go wrong with
the update. Is this a bug or new procedure?

    windows 10 update

    Hi Poker123,

When Windows 10 installs a major Update like the Fall Creators Update, it removes all Restore Points. this is done to maintain System File Integrity.

If say you chose to restore after a major update like this, your system would be a mixture of pre and post update system files and would therefore become unstable . . .

Your best option after each major update is to turn system protection back on and create a restore point . . .

Fall Update - Restore Points Turned Off

Well, I would agree with MS that the restore points for the old build should be deleted for obvious reasons.

But I totally disagree with MS in that they have overidden my choice to have restore points enabled. Without warning.

(And to be consistent with that, the user should really be advised to make an image backup prior to this (kind of) update. Sorry, upgrade).

  5. Mine wasn't turned off? After a clean install it was enabled for my Windows drive and turned off for my Data drive. Just the way I left it before doing my clean install.
