Windows 10: Family Office MS365

I have Microsoft Office 365 using Win10 or Win11. I have another Family Members computer on my account. Different computer, different login. However, my files are visible to them. I have taken all the appropriate measures as instructed to prohibit this, yet it continues to occur. HOW can I prevent it short of separate accounts?

Files from previous MS365 Office are not recognized in recently installed MS365 Office

I just installed MS365 Office after my old subscription had expired (in December). It was not on auto-renewal. My old Windows 10 was then interfering with my ability to modify my files so a computer help service at a major store said that before I could use the new Office they had to uninstall Windows 10. Which they did. However after that, some files I had made, using my previous Office, did not associate with the recently installed MS365 Office e.g. Excel, PPT, and nowI can't open them. I can only open them with open-source office-type software e.g. Neat Office or Trio Office.

And yes, I have right-clicked on the files and changed their properties to e.g. "Excel" or to "PPT" yet they still do not open in Office.

This is an example of what pops up. Could not paste screenshot.

thanks Elise. Yes I bought MS365 from the MS website and downloaded and ran "setup" a week ago. So what you suggest is exactly what I did earlier today. So very very weird that the first download did not work. No idea what happened. It's the old "unplug, wait 30 seconds, plug back in" or "turn off, turn on" or "reboot" - Seems kind of primitive , but I am glad it still works!

Thank you for the link. However, that is one of the first "fixes" I found. The problem is this: under "Control Panel"\"Programs and Features"\"Uninstall or Change a Program", MS365 is not in the list. Only the language packs appear.

But - under "Settings" (I have a Dell PC Inspiron 7000 with Windows 10) and then "Apps" (goes to "Apps & Features") MS 365 does appear in the list (181 MB downloaded 21 January) but there is no choice to Modify, which appears under every other icon. The only choice is to "Uninstall", and the "Move" button is greyed out. When I click on the "Advanced" link, a box pops up that shows App 0 bytes, Data 169 MB, Total Usage 169 MB.

And then when I go to that list of installed programs that appears on the right when you click the Windows icon (with "Documents" "Photos" "Downloads" etc on the left), Microsoft 365 is there. But when I click it, info for buying MS 365, to start using MS 365, downloading it, and starting to use it appear. See below. So I have no idea what to do next. Any insight would be most appreciated.
