Windows 10: Family & Other Users does not appear in Settings - Accounts

Hi Speedy. I just read your latest reply. That's pretty cool. Gotta take full advantage of a system that you built to put it to good use! Good to hear that.. and That's why your name is Speedy IV. I was wondering why "4"? Because there was a "3" before that. =D

 

You are quite correct about the increased risk of using the full Administrator account and the increased risk of a disabled UAC. I am not recommending operating this way to anyone. It is just my personal preference. I use Windows Defender (after many years of using 3rd party virus programs) and Malware Bytes to protect my system, and I run full scans often. I also run full Acronis backups weekly with daily incremental backups, set Restore Points anytime new software is introduced, and burn an image DVD weekly. With these measures in place, I feel reasonably protected with several paths to recovery in the event of something catastrophic. So far (knock on wood), I have not had any issues. Again, my personal preference and not recommending to anyone else. Thanks for the warning!*Smile

 

Yes that is why SpeedyIV. I name each computer I build (OK maybe kind of dorky) but they are sort of like living things - almost like children. Each one cost more than I planned, is different, has its unique idiosyncrasies, and needs attention all the time... BTW I checked back in unclepine's thread abot the missing icons. Looks like he dropped off. I hope he resolved his issue..
