Windows 10: Family Safety - activity report showing way more hours than possible

I recently set my son up with the microsoft family safety restrictions now while they work really well i have an issue - it appears to be calculating the time spent on things incorrectly - today for instance


i have screen times set to 6am - 10pm with max scheduled time however if i look at his activity report its showing that he has used discord today for 16 hours and 3 minutes its 4:05pm how is it possible for him to have used it that much? It doesnt make sense so if he leaves his pc on is it counting that time? Because 16 hours means he started using it at 12am?!

Please let me know why its doing this - does he need to turn his pc off to stop the activity report counting it even outside of his alloted time? Doesnt make any sense

Family safety activity reports are wrong

I have started to homeschool one of my children, and so I was hoping to use family safety to keep track of his computer activity to make sure he is spending required time doing studying.

But the activity reports are completely bogus.

They will show wrong number of hours using the computer, for example, I know he has been working for 5 hours, but activity report shows 1 hr 21 minutes.

So the times in the activity report are complete useless and unreliable.

It also doesn't even correctly show the apps being used either, some will be missing altogether, and the ones listed clealry have wrong times.

Is this even fixable? I know from long and painful experience with all my kids computers that family safety is not reliable and randomly breaks.

I understand that the Family Activity Report shows excessive hours.



Most of the times the Family Activity Report is accurate. For activity reporting to work, check the privacy settings on your child’s device. Select the
Start button, then select Settings > Privacy >
Diagnostics & feedback and make sure the level is set to
Enhanced or Full. You can also try toggling it to
Enhanced or Full and check.



Ideally, any time a child is signed in, even if they are not actively participating, the games or apps that are being used will show up on their activity report.

Daniel Strommen [MSFT] and see if that helps.



Also, as PauloMacapagal suggested, you can try removing and re-adding the child account to the family and check.



After re-adding the child, please monitor the activity report. Meanwhile, I will be researching on this issue.

I followed all suggestions on the link provided by Sangeeta Sarkar. Family Safety STILL does not report recent activity.
