  1. Family Safety - Child account remains unlocked after screentime limit reached

I am having trouble with Family Safety. One of our child accounts works fine; the other is having trouble. The screentime limits have been properly set, but the child's device remains unlocked after the time limit is reached.

    Hi Sharon,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

This issue can be caused by sync issue with your computer and the Family Safety website. To troubleshoot this, please try to re-configure your child account by following these steps:

    1. Remove the child via Family Safety website.

    a. Sign in to

    using the parent account.

    b. Click on Manage the list of Family members.

    c. Check the child account, then click Delete. Click again on
    Delete to confirm.

    2. Follow the steps in this article to reconfigure Family Safety:

Family Safety - Child account remains unlocked after screentime limit reached

Family Safety child account: can't login and time limits wrong

My child has a windows 10 PC that only has one account on it. This account is setup as a child account under family safety and has been working normally for a while.

All of a sudden the account does not seem to be able to update any restriction information from the family safety system. The computer is locked out because there is no screen time remaining and the account cannot login.

If I change or remove/disable the screen time limits on the family safety website this has no impact - the changes are not recognized on the child's computer. Clicking "request more time" also has no effect - no message is sent to the parent account. The
behavior is as if the computer were not connected to the Internet, but the wi-fi appears to be working normally. Of course there is no real way to check this because we can't login.

Because there are no other accounts on the computer we are effectively locked out.

Any suggestions as to how we can resolve this so that we can login to the computer are greatly appreciated.

In future I will be sure to add a parental account to any computer that has family safety setup for a child account but that does not help with the current situation.
