Windows 10: Family Safety Settings is a mess, please help save my sons Christmas

I do not have much hope as after a ton of researching I see this has been an on-going problem since 2014-15 from many posts I have found while searching the community. Got a new acer laptop with windows 10, Christmas eve I set it up and downloaded some games. During the setup process Windows 10 offered "family safety" application, I liked the ability to control my sons screen time so added the application and setup some limitations and ended the night. This morning my son was super excited to get his laptop, go to start it up and got prompted that he used up his screen time weird as its 730am

Family Safety screen time stuck on old settings

• I set up family safety settings under windows 8.
• Configured screen time options to for only daytime, so as to prevent my son from using the computer too early or too late in the day.
• I've upgraded the computer to Windows 10 (live update, not a fresh install).
• Now I want to change the screen time settings for my son. Nothing I have attempted (short of clean install of Windows) has worked.
  • Changing time settings doesn't work
  • Turning off Screen Time doesn't help
  • Removing/Adding his account from family safety doesn't help
  • Removing/Adding the computer from family safety doesn't help
• I don't see a Windows Family Safety service running on the machine, which is odd.
• I really don't want to do a fresh Windows install.

Any suggestions are welcome.

This issue might occur if there is change in family safety account.



To assist you better, please provide us the information below:

• Have you tried to log out or restart from the child's computer and logging in to the computer?
• Are you able to see the child account in the Family Safety settings after removing it?

I suggest you to refer to the steps below to remove the child account from the family safety account and also turn on
Activity reporting.

Family Safety: Son's computer not recognizing changes in Windows 10.

No - I cannot see my son's child account under the family safely list in account settings or on the main family page. Yet, on HIS computer, if he goes on, it indicates he is still being monitored by family safety.
