    Hi, I installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 on a work PC. All was fine for over a year. The owners young son then came along and used the machine and somehow activated the Family Settings. Now anytime the owner the original user tries to access Firefox, a box pops up stating that he needs to ask an adult for permission to use the app, along with the email button - which emails him!My question is, how did his son invoke the settings on a random PC? Is there somewhere that we can just ask him to sign out of in order to detach his restrictions from his dads Windows account ... which seems to be

    Try the following methods and check if it helps:

    Method 1:

    I suggest you to turn off then turn on the settings for activity reporting to refresh the configuration. Here are the detailed steps:

    • Login the parent account in
      http://fss.live.com
      .
    • Under the child name, click Edit Settings.
    • Select Activity reporting.
    • Tick the circle beside Turn off activity reporting.
    • Click Save.
    • Go back to the same settings and tick Turn on activity reporting.
    • Click Save.
    If the issue persists then follow the below method.

    Method 2:

    Please remove the PC associated to the child via the Family Safety website to re-establish the connection by following these steps:

    • Login to
      Family Safety website
      .
    • Go to the child's Edit settings.
    • Look for the computer associated to the child account at the lower portion, click
      Remove at the right side of the computer.
    • Go to Windows 8 Family Safety control panel, turn on Family Safety for the child account.
    • Switch user and then log in using the child account at the PC.
    • Try to do some activities on the child account such as web browsing, etc. (at least 5 minutes).
    • Log out from the child account then log in using the parent account. Verify if the activities are reflected in the Activity reports of the Family Safety website.

    Family Safety - add device to child profile

    Since this is the case and you have ensured the settings are correctly setup in family Safety, we suggest that you sign in using your main account and remove you child's account from Family Safety list. (Refer to the image below for reference.)

    After completing the steps, attempt to use the email address of your child to login to the computer and see if the same error message still shows up. If the error no longer shows up, we suggest that you attempt to add the account back then to Family safety.
