  1. Family settings despite not being part of a Microsoft family

Recently I have been unable to use any search engines besides Edge. When I try I receive a family features pop up stating "You'll need to ask to use this app" and "
You can't use Firefox because of your family safety settings, but it doesn't hurt to ask" I am not a part of any family groups in microsoft, I am the only user on this computer, and I can say with a fair degree of confidence my family wouldn't know how to set one of these up. Any suggestions for what I should do?

    Hi,

It could be because of the settings on the Family and Safety feature or the account you're using is added to a Family. With that being said, we suggest that you check if the account that you are using is a part of the
Family list. To check on it, go to Cortana
    and search for Family Options.

To remove your account to the Family, you may follow the steps below:

    • Use the Adult account to log in using this link.
    • Click on the Family tab.
    • On the account that you want to remove, click More > Remove from family.
    • Then click Remove to confirm.

Let us know how it goes and feel free to get back to us if you need further assistance.

No longer part of the family setting

    Original title: Family safety

When I migrated from Windows 8 to Windows 10, I went through the laborious process of converting all my children's local accounts (which had family safety, time limits, etc, etc) set up on the PC itself (and which worked perfectly well thank you very much),
to Microsoft accounts, in order to use the "improved" (hah!) family safety settings.

It was all (kind of) working for a couple of months. My main bugbear with it is that having set a daily time-limit for the children, if I then want to allow them some extra time (e.g. to finish off some homework), I have to actually log on myself and visit
the family settings part of the Microsoft account website, rather than just clicking on a dialog box on-screen and entering my password. That's a massive step backwards in usability, IMO.

Anyhow, that's not my grumble today. Somehow my 8-year-old has managed to modify his account settings, so that he is no longer part of the "family". His entry in the "Your family" (https://account.microsoft.com/family#/)
page now says "Once <email> has signed in to a Windows Phone or Windows 10 device, it'll show up here." As a result, none of the web filters or time limits I'd set up apply to him any more.

What has he managed to do, and how can I prevent him doing so again?
