Windows 10: Fan Regulator/control key

I was able to regulate my system's fan using the f12 key on my HP envy x360 and somehow the key seems to stop working. I updated my keyboard drivers even uninstalled the drivers but it is still not working. Any help here please?

Fixed fan controls yes. Annoying profiles yes. Buggy code yes.

I'd rather just set it and forget it as the feature list of RBE suggested it was capable of doing.

 

Fan controllers - Way OT

I had looked at that. PWM control ranging from idle to max over one of 4 preset ranges. It has 2 problems:

1. The lowest temperature range is 35° - 45°C (95° - 113°F) - doesn't kick in at a low enough temperature.
2. It does not shut the fan off - just leaves it on idle. (Pulse width for idle is selectable.

Coolerguys has a temperature controlled switch with a hard-coded range of 27° - 31°C (81° - 88°F) but is just on/off - turn on at the high temp; turn off at the low temp. I don't know if that is good or bad. The temperature range fits my needs but I would rather have variable speed - either PWM or voltage controlled - over the "On" range.

 

Utility for laptop fan control?

Note that, depending on your laptop, any direct control of the fan may not be possible. I suggested the one above as it seems aimed at laptops in particular- but I've not tried it.

E.g. Speedfan lists no fan on my Thinkpad.

It has preset configurations for different machines: e.g.




which for my t440s gives




- whereas Speedfan didn't seem to achieve anything, I'm afraid. Presumably you looked at the config editor...
