Windows 10: 'Fancy' parts of the Windows are not working, with 5-minute black screens on boot

- Symptoms:
1. 3-5 minutes black screens with only cursor visible
a. after BIOS, before log-in screen
b. after log-in screen, before the desktop shows up
2. 'Fancy part' of the Windows not working
- Conditions
a. after running the computer long enough I guess 6< hours
b. clicking on the 'Windows Ink Workspace' on the taskbar I tried running other 'fancy' apps, but only this arouses this problem


- Definition of 'fancy part' of the Windows
The "apps" added around Windows 8 & 10.
Ex The original control panel was separated into 2 parts. One, the 'old-school' window and the other, 'fancy' settings app.


- Working/Not working parts when the problem is present
- Not working:
- All the parts on the right side of the taskbar show hidden icons, network, sound, windows ink workspace, time/calendar, etc. Doesn't even shows the hovered look either
- alt + tab GUI doesn't show up, doesn't actually functionchange the window either
- Windows panel / Search panel It shows hovered look, though So I have to alt + f4 on the desktop in order to shutdown
- Right click on the pinned apps on the taskbar shift-right click works
- Opening 'fancy' apps of the Windows
- Other 'fancy' parts of the Windows

- Partially working:
- View tasks It shows up the GUI, but it freezes on that screen. I can't go back to normal desktop. Funnily, I can interact with a program as it is on the preview screen

- Working:
- ctrl + alt + delete
- windows + r
- Opening other third-party programs
- Opening 'old-school' apps such as control panel/task manager
- Other 'old-school' parts of the Windows


- Other strange things happened
- Sometimes, when I click the Windows Ink Workspace, the GUI opens after really long time, such as 20 minutes. I think there's a possibility the 'fancy' parts of the Windows functions extraordinarily slow, so that it seems just as not working.
- One day, I clicked the Windows Ink Workspace, clicked the Windows panelthe one on the taskbar multiple times, then I window+r and run `ms-settings:`tried to open the settings app. All the sudden, the Ink GUI opened, Windows panel flickered some times and disappeared, then the settings app was open but not interactablewas on the taskbar, but not interactable at all. The Ink GUI didn't go away even after clicking other apps/desktop, it did go away when I actually clicked on the GUI, but it didn't run the Whiteboard app, though.


- Things I've tried
- Disabling all the startup programs
- Running `sfc /scannnow` after running DISM and viewing the log there was no file failed to recover
- Running `chkdsk`
- I had no restore point


- How long it had been
I think around 2 weeks or so, I don't think there was an 'unusual' thing I did.
The only thing I downloaded in past 2 weeks was a C++ library using vcpkg which resulted in installing a different version of powershell and other stuffs. It was 2020/09/17.

Black Screen after Log on


Computer boots to windows log on,have no password here.After a minute on log on it go to a black screen,stays there forever. I can get to Task Manager from black Screen,lost on what to do next. Just want my Windows 10 back, not sure what caused this problem. Any Suggestion on what my next step should be?*Sad

Sounds like the old... windows black screen of death.

They, also, have some other options there, too.
Google search and you will find a lot of the "Windows Black Screen of Death with cursor" fixes.

So this is not a BSOD ? Have a Windows 10 disc or USB Flash Drive made ? How are you getting to task manager Ctrl.+Alt+Del ? Any cursor on screen ?
