Does anyone have experience with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool? Again looking to this forum for it's wealth of wisdom and experience.
It seems as if this may be the only way I can attempt to troubleshoot Malwarebytes Anti-malware problem that completely freezes up my wife's computer.
Help!?!!?

 

Win 7 to Win 10 Upgrade Failure

Thanks for the files.

I looked at the files and I would like to try the following with them.

Since a few interventions are a little deeper in the system, I would ask you to perform a full system backup before doing so.

You should make sure that you can access the system backup at any time if the system no longer boots or crashes.

I assume that you are also able to restore a backup.

Step 1:

Download the Media Creation Tool:

Media Creation Tool

Use the Media Creation Tool to create an installation medium.

Preferably a USB stick.


Step 2:

Temporarily uninstall the following software::

1. Silicon Labs Software, App: Windows Driver Package - Silicon Labs Software
2. Dynastream Innovations, Inc., App: Windows Driver Package - Dynastream Innovations
3. Intel, App: Intel(R) Network Connections 21.1.30.0, Version: 21.1.30.0
4. GIGABYTE, App: EasyTune, Version: 1.16.0822
5. BrightFort LLC, App: SpywareBlaster 6.0, Version: 6.0.0
6. Intel, App: Intel® Driver & Support Assistant, Version: 3.1.2.2
7. Realtek Semiconductor Corp., App: Realtek High Definition Audio Driver, Version: 6.0.1.7680

Step 3:

Attention! If the PC does not boot after step 3, restore the system backup!

Download the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool from there:

Then download this Fixlist.txt and copy the Fixlist into the same folder as the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool.

After that start the Farbar Tool and then answers the Disclaimer with yes:

Farbar Recovery Scan Tool Disclaimer

Wait for the tool to say "The tool is ready to use" and then click Fix and wait for it to finish.

The Tool creates the Fixlog.txt file in the same folder where the Farbar Tool is located.

Scan with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x86 or Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64 and save it to your Desktop.

• Right-click on FRST icon and select Run as Administrator to start the tool.
• When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
• Make sure that Addition option is checked.
• Press Scan button and wait.
• The tool will produce two logfiles on your desktop: FRST.txt and Addition.txt.
