  1. Fast Startup not working even when enabled and boot takes too long

I have enabled Fast Startup in the Control Panel, but it doesn't work at all. Every time I shut down, my laptop performs a full shutdown, so both shutting down and booting up take longer. If it was just a few seconds longer, I wouldn't mind, but it takes 2 minutes every time I boot up, even though I'm using an SSD as the main storage. This can be seen from the Task Manager which shows the Uptime always resetting.Device specifications:Windows 10 HomeRyzen 7 4700U20 GB DDR4 RAM 16 + 4 2666 MHz500 GB M.2 SSD1 TB External HDD USB 3.0Initially, I suspected that the External HDD was causing it.

  2. Fast Startup not working but hibernate is working.

    Hello Anubhav,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that the fast startup is not working after the check disk in your PC. We will help you.

To assist you better, I suggest you to answer the below questions.

    • What issue were you facing to perform the check disk?
    • Are you getting any error messages?
    • What is the make and model of your PC?
    • Which Edition of Windows 10 are you using?
I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

    Using Group Policy Editor:

Note: This option for using group policy is only available in the Windows 10 Pro editions.

    • Press Windows Key + R combination and put gpedit.msc in
      Run dialog box.
    • In the left pane navigate to:

    • Now look in the right pane, you’ll got the policy named Require use of fast startup as shown above.
    • Double click on this policy to get the window shown below.
    • Now you can use following settings:
    • Force “Hybrid boot” to be always turned on = Enable
    • Do NOT force “Hybrid boot” to be always turned on = Disabled/Not configured
      (Default Setting)
    • After making changes click Apply followed by OK.
Restart the machine and check if it helps. Keep us posted to help you better.

Windows 10 Fast Startup Boot Fail

Since about the update to W10 V1607 a Fast Startup enabled boot stalls. The four window panes appear but the circle of dots chasing it's tail do not. Prior to V1607 Fast Startup was working. Update KB3194798 failed, but was subsequently successful. A "sfc
/scannow" didn't turn up any problems, and its to early for a boot log. Any suggestions for tracking down this annoying little problem?

  4. Fast Startup not working even when enabled and boot takes too long

    Windows 10 long boot/black screen/2 display drivers

    Hi,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

    • What do you mean by “For my processor”? Are you referring to motherboard graphic drivers?
I suggest you to disable the second driver and then try to enable the below steps for fast boot options.

Enabling or disabling this feature is quite easy and if we count the numbers, you just need 4-5 steps to do this. Just follow the below listed procedure.

    • Open your Control Panel. Look for Control Panel in start menu.
    • Now in Control Panel look for Power Options.
    • Look for an option that reads Choose what the power button does and click it. This will open up a new Window and here you can see more options.
    • Now look for the check box with text Turn on fast startup.
    • Check it if you want Fast startup enabled and uncheck it if you don’t want it enabled.
Hope this information was helpful and do let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to assist.
