    I have an issue where the Fast User Switching function is missing from the Start Menu only. I can Fast user switch from the Ctrl-L lock screen and the Ctrl-Alt-Del screen. I have researched this extensively on this and other forums, but haven't found this exact symptoms. I have also tried just about everything suggested having to do with FUS.


    When I select Start > right-click user, the options present are: Change account settings, Lock, Sign out


    I have done the following checks and tests:

    - Run DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

    - Run sfc /scannow - this found some errors with permissions on some start menu files and fixed them, but it didn't fix the FUS issue.

    - Enabled, Disabled and set to Not configured. rebooting in between hide user switching GPO entries with gpedit.msc. This did not fix the issue.


    I first installed Win 10 in Sept 2019. I'm on Win 10 Pro version 1903. seems I might have an update to do... I don't know when this function disappeared. My partner has Win 10 also and the FUS is on the start menu.


    What have I missed? Do you have any other ideas. I am reluctant to reinstall at this point, or use system restore. I wouldn't have any idea how far back to go.

    Switch User entry missing from Start Menu

    This may sound like a repeat of a previous post but I'm pretty certain it isn't. I have Fast User Switching enabled per instructions in Enable or Disable Fast User Switching in Windows 10
    I am able to switch user with the Ctl-Alt-Del menu item and from the Win-L lock screen. But not from the Start > <username> control. The menu items are: Change account setting, Lock, Sign Out.
    I am running Win 10 Pro version 1903 (OS Build 18362.778).

    I have even enabled the Hide Entry points for FUS. As expected the Ctl-Alt-Del menu and Win-L lock items were disabled.
    I have a VM running in VirtualBox version 1909 (OS Build 18363.778) where the User names are present in the Start > <username> control.

    Switch User entry missing from Start Menu

    That is exactly what I'm doing! On the VM screen capture, I see the name of the other user (Signed in). On the main OS, I don't see the name of the other user. Both have FUS enabled. Maybe these captures show that clearer.
