Windows 10: Fastest way to transfer files in local network (cabled)

If I have two PC connected to the same router , what would be the fastest way to transfer files?

SMB, FTP or should I simple use a cable to connect the two PC?

OMG. I have never met anyone who actually bought one of those file transfer things.



Firewire will do the same as USB, but faster, so will a cheap crossover cable. I can wlak you through the steps of moving data so you will not miss a beat.




Anything more than $10 to buy a cable is too much.

if both computers will be hooked to the same internet connection through the router then that is your connection. simply go to your old computer and enable file sharing through your LAN - Local Area Network and from your new computer you will see the old computer shown on your network. simply click through your old computer just as though you were sitting in front of it then copy the wanted files over to your new coputer. thats it your done! but dont forget to turn off file sharing after your finished so no one can access your files unless you authorize it. this method transfers files very quickly and needs no extra cables except the ones to connect to the router.

if you try on usb it will take a week to do it, its slow as chit.

plug eithernet cable into each computer to link them and it will be able to transfer pretty fast but using firewire is the fastest way.
