Windows 10: fatal error on D drive rebooted and Fixing D: stage 1 going very slow

I had a D drive disk fatal error. The D is my data with start up systems (windows 10) on an SSD C drive. the attempted to restart had Preparing to Fix stuck for about 30 minutes. The second attempt to start was with shift key and it went into check disk. It progressed quickly to D: 50% then began clicking through files slowly (about 400 over the last 1:30). At this point I'm at 311700 in 613100) with the "Total; 17%; ETA; 6.30.00 and the time keeps crept up

... I am a newbie at systems work like this and I don't know exactly what the system notice is saying (above) or it's doing
here in stage 1 or what to expect in time (if this is just the damaged sector bogging and the rest should go quicker?)
... what to expect in the next stages ? ... similar ?
... any thought on whether to grind this out or is there a better way to go about this ? .
... any help would be appreciated

Fixing (D stage 1

I was using my computer one day and at first, the computer was suprisingly lagging and then the blue error and restart page popped up. After that was done, my computer shut off. I tried opening it and then the "fixing (D stage 1 appeared.

I kind of panicked and i immediately pressed down the power button until it was shut down.

I opened the laptop again and the" fixing (D stage 1 appeared again. I started to just wait until it finishes.

To be honest, I dont know if this was supposed to happen but this is the 2nd day that im waiting for it to finish.

Right now its at fixing (D 91% (44897 of 49152) stage 1 total 30% eta: 74:36:00

So i just want to know

1. How long will it take?

2. Will all my files still be there?

3. What do i have to expect when its done

4. What will i have to do?

I hope nothing goes wrong

Please help me

 

Fatal device hardware error in local disk D

Hi.

I have an Acer Acer Aspire laptop running windows 10.

My problem is I can't open my D drive or access the files on it because I am told I have a fatal device hardware error. For the same reason my windows defender can't run a scan on the D drive. Windows defender says my computer is protected and up to date.

To date, I have been backing up to my Seagate Hard drive. Everything was working fine until I accidentally removed my device from the USB port. My Seagate is not even showing up under my D drive now.

I have tried trouble shooting but get the same fatal error message.

When I go into settings, backup and more options I can't go any further. That was where I could usually see my Seagate to backup to.

At one stage I was told I had to reconnect my file history but when I try, the same error shows. Please help.

Last day when I switched on my desktop it did not start and was showing that your PC needs to be repaired and error 0xc0000225. I had flash drive of windows installation media. So I used it to to repair the windows but it was not successful. So instead I
installed the windows in the drive D instead of drive C (where my windows was previously installed). After installation, when the PC was rebooting it showed Fixing (D Stage 1: 5% (26547 of 506368); Total 1% ETA: 21:40:55. I thought it will take some time
to finish the process. I left it overnight. In the morning, I saw the PC was off. I switched it on, luckily the windows started, but every data on drive C was not present. Also, windows was asking for a restart, so I restarted the PC but instead of restarting
the PC was again Fixing (D Stage 1: 5% (26547 of 506368); Total 1% ETA: 21:40:55.

Please help me what should I do ?
